After what seemed like an eternity, Jules reached her destination; room 826; chemistry; Mrs. Lukewards.
Taking a deep breath, Jules opened the door to face 43 pairs of eyes. Color drained from her face as she slid through the doorway, letting the door close behind her.
“Can I help you?” a kind voice asked.
Jules looked towards the front of the room, her back pressed against the closed door, to make eye contact with a green-eyed, pink-haired witch.
“Y-yes, I’m a new student,” Jules stammered as she took a few steps towards the witch’s desk, holding out her schedule.
The witch took the schedule and looked it over.
“Ah, Miss Juliet Constantine; welcome,” she said with a smile, “I’m Mrs. Lukewards the chemistry teacher,” she continued as she handed Jules back her schedule.
“Thank you,” Jules answered, taking back her schedule, “I go by Julie, though.”
Mrs. Lukewards smiled and nodded.
“Class, please help Miss Constantine become acquainted with Dark Alley,” she addressed the class before turning to Jules, “Do you know anyone here?”
Jules shook her head.
“Wait a minute! Jules? Is that you?” a male voice asked from the back of the classroom.
Jules looked up to see a spiky red-haired boy come rushing towards her, and, before she knew it, he had her in a bear hug.
“Jules!” he laughed, squeezing her tightly, “It’s been forever!”
“Ph-Phoenix?” Jules gasped for air.
Phoenix beamed as he set Jules down, his hands on her shoulders.
“So you DO remember me!” his crystal eyes shone with excitement.
