"YOU STAY IN THERE UNTIL YOU'VE LEARNED YOUR LESSON!!" came the shouting of a middle-aged man, holding a bottle of alcohol in the air. Ryou was walking hurridley into her room, quietly shutting the door behind her. She hadn't even done anything to warrant a punishment. All she had done was try to cook dinner for them. But she had forgotten her father's dislike of sitting in the same room to eat dinner with her. She just thought he wouldn't mind this one time. He came home and instantly began chastising her for eating before him and setting up the food in the same room. He threw the dishes across the room, leaving her to clean up the mess as he yelled above her.
Ryou, a girl old enough to leave her father, sat in the corner of her room. She hugged her knees to her chest and cried silently. She could leave whenever she wanted to but she was scared. Where would she go? Who would want her? Because of her likeness of her mom, her father hated her. Hated Ryou for taking away the love of his life. She could never transform into what she wanted because of all the negative energy. She tried to turn into a bird once but instead became a pen.
She closed her eyes, tears seeping from closed lashes.
'Why won't he love me?' she thought, her cries clogging her throat until she started hiccuping. She covered her eyes, wiping them with fisted hands. She sniffled before opening her eyes. The first thing she noticed was she wasn't facing the usual vanilla colored wall.
Ryou sucked in her tears and looked up from the floor.
