The article I read this week was Similarity of Chinese, Calif. Fault Systems Raises Concerns and it was found in the Nation Section of the newspaper. It first was about a man called Kenneth Hudnut who was staring out of his window. He was thinking that an earthquake would hit California. He believes that the earthquake that devastated China a month ago and a new earthquake that might appear in California are related to each other because both California and Sichuan are near plates. This is new because it alerts others about the plates and cautions them to know what is ahead.

The summary was about how nature is unpredictable.
The article is also made up of people who are geologist or teach geological sciences and their opinions about earthquakes. People are concerned that an earthquake would hit the states. The odds of a 7.5-plus earthquake to hit in the United States over the next 3 years are lister 46%. That is scary and concerning many people over the United States.

I had no idea that nature was not predictable! I always thought that we had invented satellites and machines to detect any and all disasters that come our way. I also didn’t know that both Sichuan and California are near plates that could move to create an earthquake.
