Long time, no type
It's indeed been a while since my last post. And boy, oh boy, has a lot happened. Hopefully I'll be able to twist my usual little moral in it this time!

Remember that little math competition that I had mentioned in the previous entry? Well, we won! We kicked everyone's butts! (Okay, so we got our tails nipped a couple times, but that's about it.) I, being one of the youngest in the state-wide competition, was pretty happy to be on the winning team. Hey, at least I didn't do half-bad! (In comes Emeril saying "BAM!" wink

Oh, hey, remember those older little kid shows? (Out of the Box, Wishbone, Zaboomafoo, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, the original Blue's Clues, etc.) Don't you just wish that they played those instead of these new "Disney" shows? The "older" Disney didn't play movies or shows with sexual references or violence in them, now did they? They most certainly did not! stare I say we start a petition to change the kids' shows and then send to Disney! (Religious term) knows we need it! These new kids are too violent and know about the "birds and the bees" far too early! (I can understand if something happened to them, but that's the only exception.)

Getting off of my rant here... what I've discovered (through self-testing) is... television and video games and the rest of the electronic entertainment devices ruin your imagination. (I've nearly lost it, thanks to many days and nights spent watching movies.) Back to books, kiddies! Because electronic entertainment is so fast, the brain is more entertained and becomes lazier. By reading a book, the brain needs to work a little more in order to get a good picture, and if you just do other ways of entertainment such as "Guitar Hero" (just mentioning one of many different games here), your brain forgets how to focus properly and so not only does the imagination drop, so do most normal functions of the brain, such as memory. Why do you think avid gamers often have poor grades although they try to pay attention in class?

So head over to your local library and pick up a good book, whether it be science fiction, fantasy, or nonfiction!
