I've been reading too much of the Tale of Genji recently. A word to the wise? reading thousand-year-old courtly romances can do weird things to your brain. I've been seriously wondering what flower I would have been poetically linked to if I had been in the story. yeah, I'm that bored. and, I've decided that it would be plum blossoms. because I like the cold and I'm just not cool enough to be a sakura.
anyway, who wouldn't love to be sent countless letters filled with eloquent poetry, written on coloured paper and tied to a branch of fresh flowers? okay, so maybe that's just me. but still!
yeah, so I've been working for dad for the last couple days doing manual labour. okay, so I've been changing lightbulbs and smoke detector batteries, but it's still more physical than scanning things for my mom, which is what I was doing for the entirety of last month.
and I did get to go to his house for dinner with his and my mom, but he couldn't come to dinner tonight. and when he called to tell me that I talked his ear off for an hour. maybe my poetic linkage should be to a woodpecker. because they insesintly pound their heads into the side of your house and annoy you in the wee hours of the morning. yeah, that's a bit closer.
