"crap" I said as my car sputtered and almost came to a stop in the middle of the road. I barely managed to get it to the gas station, folding my arms in disgust I tried to call a toe-truck, and ot my unannounced surprise my cell phone did not work. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, it started to snow.
After a few minutes of waiting I saw someone come out of the Quck-Stop store at the gas station, walking the person fell. As I saw her fall I wondered if she was okay, there was not movement for a couple minutes, so I decided to get out and check on her. I found her huddled in a ball crying behind one of the gas pumps.
"Mrs. a...are you okay?" I asked worridly. She looked up at me "I...I don't want my kids to see me cry" was all she said.
Come to find out after a while of talkin to her, she had four kids in a van parked around a corner, she had no money and needed to fill up her car with gas, her kids were hungry and it was almost Christmas, she had no money for a house or to buy them presents.
Looking at her concerned I told Her I'd help.
Together we pushed her car to the station. She filled it and I payed for the eighty-five dollars it cost. I ran to the nearest Mac-donalds and got her one of each thing from the menu toys and all, she handed a meal to the kids with tears in her eyes I smiled at what I had done. Then I ran to the Quick-Stop bought candy and toys there too, her kids took them with open eyes and smiled for the first time in months she said.
After this I rented them a Hotel for the week, making sure they could stay for as long as they needed I gave them five-hundred dollars for their needs.
This all happened in a matter of hours
As I was leaving the lady ran up to me and all her kids, they each gave me a hug and she said with glad tears in her eyes this time "thank you, with all my heart I thank you so much" giving her a tight hug I answered "your welcome" and left, as I walked out the building and crossed the streets back to my car I sat in it, I said a prayer for the woman and her Family.
Just then without my key even in the car, My car started.
Now Imagine what would have happened if I had gotten out of the car, kicked the side, cursed and screamed...I would have missed that chance to help them completely. Being calm helps situations alot.
Mericals do happen and I think this was a merical for both of us. Now I live my life looking for the easiest way to help people, I've never come across a family in that of need, but I think they will never forget me, nor I them.
