Today is 04/19/08. ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I made it to the finals in the idol contest. I'm still in shock. It was only because only three out of the six finalists showed up. No duh, one of them was me. Cindy showed up, and she was in the play with me. And the last finalist to show up was a girl named Megan from Komachin. I don't think she's gonna be the middle school idol....if you were there, you can kind of tell why. She sang a duet by herself, and she tried to sing both parts. And probably because of the mass confusion, she was out of tune.
Yesterday was the scariest day of my life. All these people I knew were watching, and I just had to get up, grab a microphone, and start singing. Without the karake machine, in my case. I just tried not to make eye contact. I stared at a poster across the cafeteria. But then I almost sang the words on the poster. So I stared at the tops of the judges heads. That worked okay. And of course, I made some eye contact, every once in a while.
Sorry, I'll start another paragraph. So as you might have known, I was sick. And I had a cough and a sore throat. But I would have been okay if I had rested my voice. But stupid ol' me just had to go sing "graduation" with everyone. Then I had to sing "we're all in this together." I didnt really know the tune or key, and I was on a mike by myself, well everyone else was sharing another. So, my spur of the moment idea was to pull reary over to me so I could hear the tune and the key. But then I think to myself, "stupid bella, stupid bella, reary has no idea either!"
I finally figured it out by drowning out Reary with my own out-of-tuneness and listening to the music, and then I was in tune. : )
But anyway, by the time the idol contest was about to begin, my throat felt like I had swallowed burning hay. Which is not pleasant. But cissa was really really nice and bought me a water bottle. Hail Cissa, queen of saviors! I'm forever in cissa's debt.
So I went up and sang. And I did it. And I have to go to finals. But the funny thing was, when I was actually singing, I hear how other people hear my voice. Because normally when you sing, you hear it go from your vocal chords to your brain, plus what other people hear, so it sounds different to you. But I could hear the microphone and speakers sounding my voice and I have to say, I sound better to other people than I do to myself. No, I do not have a low self-esteem. You all know I don't.
Anywho, finishing up, I got candy, a free admission to an ACT night, and a $15 Coldstone gift card! For showing up! So I might take the people ho came and supported me out for ice cream sometime....
