A good way to start up a friendship with a guy is to talk about something you know he's interested in. Pay attention: Is he a basketball fan? Does he like to surf the Internet? Does always get the highest score in math class? After you've done your research, give him a call. Tell him you bet your friend that Shaquille O'Neal is the tallest guy in the NBA and you want to know if you're right. Ask him if he knows of a good Web site where you can check out some new music. Or just ask him for some help in math. Once you break the ice, the conversation should start rolling.
