Chapter Seven
Soon after, Will awoke as well. He slowly opened his eyes, and saw Jake smiling at me. Apparently, he had gotten jealous and acted before he thought it through.
“Hey, Vanessa!” Will shouted, ran up to me, and hugged me as tight as I had ever been hugged before.
“Good Morning, Will.” I said, trying to regain my breath. Jake scowled at Will, and shoved him away from me, and I was now held close to Jake. He’s… so…warm! I dug my head into his chest, and embraced his soothing scent that was emanating from his shirt. Will seemed furious now, mainly because I could tell that Jake and Will were not creating a conversation whatsoever. Jake and I sat there for a while, and eventually Jake rested his hand on my hair, and he gently stroked it, as if to aggravate Will even more.
Will snapped.
“Cut it out, Jake! I’ve known her longer than you have, jerk!” He shouted, and dashed towards us. He jerked my arm, and I slipped out of Jake’s grasp. I forced myself out of Will’s arms, and I tried to stay away from both of them, so a fight wouldn’t occur.
“Quit it!” I shouted, and made both of them turn and gaze at me. “I’m sick of your fighting.” I said stubbornly, and I could only stare at them in anger.
“Sorry…” Will whispered, and looked down at his shoes.
“…Sorry.” Jake murmured as well, but he looked over to his right; away from Will. Will strode over to his suitcase, gave it a tug, and walked over to Jake’s car without looking back. Oh, that’s right! Will leaves today.
“We should get to the airport, I guess …” I murmured, following Will. My heart thudded wildly inside my chest as I thought of the moment I had just spent with Jake. He held me … I kept repeating inside my head, over and over. I remained at a steady pace, yet following swiftly behind Will.
I turned my head just enough to get a glimpse of Jake, who was striding toward Will and I. I turned back, and continued. Finally, we had arrived at the car after splashing through puddles. I let out a quiet yawn as I yanked the smooth car door handle. Jake and I sat in the front, with Jake driving, of course, and Will in the back seat.
The car ride was yet again filled with silence. All that could be heard were car tires moving across the pavement, and the wind clashing against the windows.
Orlando Airport was now in sight, and I switched my gaze to Will, who was glaring out the window with a depressed expression glued to his face; his hazel eyes sparkling in the sunlight. As the airplanes were coming into view, Will gazed back at me. I was startled; I didn’t even consider him looking back at me so suddenly.
Once we had arrived at his terminal, we heard a voice over the intercom, warning us to depart onto the airplane and get settled. Before Will could take another step, I dashed up to him and placed my arms around his stomach. He seemed slightly surprised, but stood there with me for a few moments.
“Goodbye.” I whispered into his ear, and it was silent.
“Come with me.” Will said stubbornly, and my eyes widened.
“W … what?” I asked in shock.
“Come with me. You can come back home.”
