I can’t tell if I want to cry
Or if I want to laugh
I can’t tell if I’m going insane
Or if I already am
I can’t tell if I’m doing wrong
Or if this is my path
The way that may seem wrong to others
But is my happiness
I can’t tell if I’m rebelling
Or avoiding blind obedience
And I can’t tell if I’m annoying everyone
Or just being myself
I can’t tell if you’re denying me
Or if you’re just being generous
I can’t tell if religion
Is really true or false
I can’t tell if I’m happy
Or if I’m really not
And if I am
Why am I so sad
About life, and yet, I’m not
Twisting and turning
Preening and pounding
My head won’t make up its mind
But if it did
Then I might be unset
Because a straight path ain’t much fun
