Girl's Day/Hinamatsuri- A Japanese holiday
Today I learned in class that it's Girl's Day in Japan, also known as the Peach Blossom Festival. It's drawing to a close as I type this, but I wanted to mention it. On this day, the first born daughters of families recieve a special doll set from their grandparents. The dolls are set on usually seven-tiered displays I think. There's an emperor and empress doll at the top, musicians (can't remember how many), servants, and samurai. Each set of dolls has it's own shelf and represents the classes. Sadly, second born daughters don't get anything, heh. When Girl's Day ends, parents must put away the doll set right away or else their daughter will marry late, so goes Japanese superstition.

I just wanted to bring this up because this was an interesting subject. I want my journal entries to be more meaningful I guess... heh. I love Japanese culture. ^w^ ~ heart
