I'm sooo sick. I feel really bad. omg I wish I feel better tomorrow, if not then is a ruined weekend, T-T.
I got into a stupid argument with a friend today. We were playing a famous online game (MS) and we were talking about the equipment I needed and w/e, and I said I needed staves. When I said staves (obviously reffering to the plural of staff) he goes: that word doesn't exist, and I go: it sure does, but since we are talking about a hoe that hates loosing he said I was wrong again, and that it wasn't the plural of staff. I replied by writing: wolves, elves, staves. He replied saying those were common words and said staff was irregular. I might be wrong about this but most plural owrds finish with a simple addition os s and es at the end. How is elves or wolves regular?
But comming back to staves, I looked it up on the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary AND Thesaurus and it said staves and staffs are both correct ways of saying it, soo I told him that and added: don't correct people if you don't know something.
After that he just didn't reply or talked to me again. Why do some ppl feel like that when they lose an argument?
I might not be an english major or someone born in this country but I know my words, accents can be very deceiving. This is also not the first time him and I have an argument like that. The first time was when he told me that fat turned into muscle. I have to clarify he meant like evolving into muscle or something like that when you exercised. Isn't that impossible? fat is one thing and muscle is another.
Fat = adipose tissues which could be hard or soft but is something without a very smart structure (like amorphous), and muscle = meat, like chicken legs and stuff, lol. If you ate meat with fat attached to it you would know what's what.
I couldn't change his mind and I told myself something, let him say stupidities like that, one day he will learn to respect other people's opinions, if he doesn't he FAILS life. yes it is possible to FAIL life. twisted
Conclusion: If you are someone that likes to argue to prove your point (very pointless if you asked me) make sure you argue things that are within your grasp, don't be an arsehole and respect the other person. After all it is fallacious to discard the other person's argument just because you think you know more. STUDY and make sure you know more. 4laugh
