C H A P T E R F I V E
Jake unlocked the car door, and plopped inside. I was still limping towards the car, and I was clenching my leg. I swung the door open, and tumbled clumsily onto the seat. I carefully pulled my leg inside, and then slammed the door. He was simply staring at me with his deep cyan eyes. I couldn’t help but smile at him, and then blush. I quickly turned my head, and I gazed out of the large window in front of me. It was drizzling outside, and storm clouds were rolling in.
“Let’s get going!” Jake shouted, and hit the gas. I grasped onto the edges of my seat, and held on tight. Jake eventually slowed the car down to a normal pace, and at a rate below the speed limit, this time. In a matter of minutes, we arrived at the airport, where I found myself again.
Everything was exactly the same. I glanced to the left, and I could see Will sitting in a chair drinking a cup of coffee that he must have purchased from Starbuck’s when he had gotten off the plane. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“Will!” I shouted, and a smile stretched across my face as I waved from where I was standing, hoping he would see and recognize me. He looked up from his newspaper, and he smiled even bigger than I had. He stood up, and placed his mug on the ground next to his suitcase. He outstretched his arms, waiting for me to come. I ran over to him, and almost caused him to fall over as I ran into him and squeezed him. He placed his arms around me, and he was so warm. I was drenched with water, but he didn’t seem to mind. I missed Will so much.
Will let go, and I backed away. We were still smiling at each other, and I could hear a foot tapping behind me. I turned, only to see Jake, as jealous as ever, impatiently tapping his foot with his arms crossed. I giggled, but his face still remained stubborn. I turned back around to face Will, and I noticed a bouquet of pink and white roses lying on top of his suitcase. I knelt down to get a whiff of them.
“Who are these for?” I asked, and I smelled them again, but I didn’t touch them, since they were Will’s.
“Those are for you!” Will replied, and he was shy about it. He didn’t blush, but I could tell he was nervous saying that to me.
I gave a gracious grin. “Thank you so much! They’re beautiful!” I said, and I picked them up and held them close to me.
“Just like you,” Will mumbled, and I tilted my head.
“Eh?” I asked inquisitively.
“O-oh, nothing. Nothing at all. So, how have you been?” Will asked me, and gave a generous smile.
“I’ve been wonderful! Thanks to Jake, here! Oh, have I introduced you guys yet? Sorry…” I said, laughing nervously.
“That’s all right. I’m Will.” Will held out his hand to Jake.
Jake stared at it for a moment, obviously still mad at Will for flirting with me. He sighed, and shook it. “I’m Jake.” He managed to say.
“C’mon! Let’s go get some Japanese; I’m starved!” I shouted, and started walking toward the door.
Will laughed. “It’s just like her.” He said, and picked up his suitcase and coffee and followed after my footsteps. Jake ran over to the door before Will and I had gotten there, and Jake held the door open.
“Erm, thank you.” I said, and walked through. Jake thrust the door shut before Will could catch up and walk through, too. The door slammed in Will’s face. Jake chuckled, and Will scowled at him. Oh, boy. Something tells me that they do NOT get along very well. I sighed, and we all walked to Jake's car.
