I hate when people come up and say to me, "Omgzz America sux! I can't believe you lived there! Ugh, it's full of racists and George Bush lovers!! Ewewew!!!11!!!!1!!!!"
Shut up.
I know that America isn't exactly the best place in the world, but neither is anywhere else. America was my home for eleven years and I have so many memories from there, but seriously, it pisses me off when people bash it.
Even my friend does it. I know she doesn't mean it to be offensive to me, but she kinda does it a lot, and it gets on my nerves a lot. She says it as if Americans are all horrible people, but Irish people aren't any different. Although many Americans in the South do discriminate against gays and gay marriage, Irish people do the same to Polish people, or Lithuanians, or any other kind of immigrant in Ireland. And I wouldn't be surprised if gays are discriminated here, either.
America isn't perfect, I know that, but I still want to defend it. I love America. I love the people I've met there, the places I've been and all the things I lived through there. I miss it, too.
