Maco: Welcome to Episode 4, where I will be showing a play (Hattie) on a little doe name Yuki**. This is not a happy one though; those with faint hearts shall be warned. Have a Marry Christmas!!
Hattie
Scene 1- A snow-white beautiful, full grown doe is standing in the middle of the stage, there is a snowy forest around her, and she looks crestfallen.
Yuki: I'm Yuki. I'm what they call an Ice deer, and although my species had gone extinct, I still wish to share my story. First off, my kind dosn’t like others, and were very shy. I have never told anyone my name. When they ask, all I do is yell, 'What’s it to you?!' and bound away, now I was born in the middle of winter. My mother named me after the snow. I grew up like any other baby, and my mother was always at my side. When I was a year old, two days after my birthday, a hunter shot my mother, and she went somewhere I wasn't. I decided to search for her in the snow, but there where no tracks, and the frozen flakes where falling hard. I then saw something red, and the tracks where covered in snow, yet visible still, but I knew It was my mother! I bounded through the drifts until I came apon a little white ball, to soft to be snow, around a red area.
(Spotlight shifts to a small lump on the stage)
Yuki: What’s your name?
White lump: (wiggles, and looks at) I’m Hattie.
Yuki: (when Hattie looks, jump) W-What’s wrong with your face?!
Hattie: What do you mean? (Hattie moves her head to face the other way, and there is blood oozing where an eye should be, and she seems to have no front paw and is blind)
Yuki: Y-Your face!! (Takes a leap back again)
Hattie: (Paniced) Oh! Oh don’t go! No one will talk to me, and I can’t see or feel anything! I don’t know where I am, or what happened?! Please stay!! (Cries painfully)
Yuki: U-Um, it seems you where shot. You don’t have an eye, or a front paw anymore, but dose it hurt? (Shakly)
Hattie: (lifts up blood matted paw to face, and feels the empty gap) N-no. It stopped hurting two days ago, and I cant feel my right side... are you still there? Are you gunna run away too?
Yuki: N-no. (Stutters and is taken aback) No, ill stay. Can you move?
Hattie: (Puts out a small paw, and drags self on the ground)
Yuki: G-good. Here, I know where some water is. (Moves slowly off stage with Hattie)
Scene 2: There by a river, and Yuki poked a hole in the ice where Hattie can get water from. There is a small pile of roots next to the deformed rabbit)
Yuki: (Walks and stands on stage to narrate) For the next two years, me and Hattie worked together. I got the food and the water, and she would sit there, and talk. But when she did, she never asked about me. She didn't know I was a deer, or what my name was, or how old I was, or anything. All she would ask is, 'Your still there, right?' and I would say 'Yes Hattie, I am still here.' She would drag herself around on her good leg, and people looked at us funny, but I just fallowed her, as she moved through the snow. Finally through, one day,
Hattie: Goodnight!
Yuki: Goodnight, Hattie. (Lays down and falls asleep)
Scene 3: Morning
Yuki: (Sticks up head, and flicks ear, yawning loudly) Mornin’ Hattie.
Hattie: (Still curled up)
Yuki: Hattie? (Pokes with hoof) Hattie, rise and shine!!
Hattie: (Still no movement)
Yuki: Hattie? (worried tone) Your really cold… Hattie? (Turns and faces audience) I jabbed her again, this time, pretty hard. But she didn’t move. (Looks at Hattie, tears in eyes) No… you can’t go! No! NO!! (Slumps onto ground and sobs) Hattie… I never got around to it (Hickups) … b-but I want you to know my name. I know, its to late, and you cant hear me anymore, but Hattie, my name is Yuki, after the snow you died in. (Turns away and crys more)
**CURTANS DROP**
Maco: Thanks for watching! This really did originate from the book ‘The way of the wolf’ and I can’t name the title off the top of my head, but it’s a deep story, and I cried. I still cry reading it.
Lakota: *sob sob* Maco!! You depressing old witch! *hickup* What’s with the sad story?! You better wright a happy one next time! Or I’ll bite you!!
Maco: Ya, I only know that one, but the others will be better hearted! Promiss!!
Lakota: Good!!
Maco: Until next time! *waves*
