One of my 4 brothers
My Mother in Florida emailed this week that my younger brother is in jail. Oh man, this hurts my heart. Just another example of having to control or even influence over events in life.
Seriously sounds like some Jerry Springer theatrics!!! So, he recently married this little backwoods red-head from over here in Louisiana, even though they already had two beautiful little children (1boy- 2yrs; 1 girl- 1 yr).
When they moved to Fl and she sounded like she's a wild child, determined to still go out to the bars with the intention of starting fights for excitement. Now, after a few years, I get the news that she is pregnent AGAIN (that's #3) and...
it may not be my brothers! Evidently they've been on again, off again since the Spring and I guess the blow-ups have been really explosive. So, My brother gets to drinking, goes out in the yard and fires his gun off. When my Mom drags him back inside, he starts talking crazy stuff and puts the gun to his head and waves it all around. She ran to her room, upset, and then heard the gun go off again! She thought he'd done killed himself! But, he was back outside shooting his gun. His friend came over and got him to go into the house, but it was too late,... the cops showed up and arrested him for firing a weapon in a residential area while intoxicated (I don't know all the technical charges). But then it gets worse when they search his room and find a sawed off shotgun (which is ILLEGAL, for those that don't know). Like that wasn't bad enough, once he got into his cell, something happened where he stopped up the toilet and they turned the water off to his cell and he busted out the sprinkler system. His bond is like $200,000. And my Mom is a wreck. She went to visit this weekend and had to talk to him behind the glass and through a phone. She said he couldn't even look her in the eyes.
I wish I could say somehing to comfort my Mother. She has even asked the rest of the family to write him. I haven't a clue what to say!

Oh Wow!! I don't even know what to say to that one. I do however know what it is like to be in jail and prison. Once I got locked up because of my own stupidity. My mother had convinced my step sister and I to steal some things from Wal*Mart when I was a young teenager. It was like a game to her. We each took turns bringing stuff back to her; and she would send us out for more. One day, I just didn't feel right about doing it anymore. I had come to know some of the people who worked their and it just didn't feel right to me. It was like stealing from family. Well, I had the biggest amount of stuff I'd ever been able to swipe (in an old beach bag). Wouldn't you know, my sister made it to the car with my mother and I stopped between the inner and outer doors. I decided to take the stuff back. As I turned around a Security Guard grabbed me.

I told them the truth and of course they believed my mother. She told them that I had some mental health issues and hadn't been right since she left my real dad. They took pity on me and let me serve six weekends in the county jail and had to be escorted by police to and from school. Talk about embarrassing. The oddest thing was when Wal*Mart decided to hire me full time a year before I was due to graduate from high school and go into the Army. I tried to give Wal*Mart 30% of my wages to make up for the stuff they didn't recover that I had stolen previously. They wouldn't have it. To them I had already served my time. One of the Security Guards had shown a video tape to the District Manager. On the video tape was evidence of my mother pointing out specific items for us to steal.

Mom ended up having to pay over $800.00 in restitution fees; which was a lot back then. She did small jobs on the side to make the money so my step dad wouldn't know what really happened. She wasn't allowed to step foot back in that Wal*Mart again.

I truly hope things work out for your brother. Everyone makes mistakes and some people are truly pressured into doing things they believe they have no control over. When in reality; all it takes is to just say something once to someone, anyone who will listen.

Wow, that's quite a story, too! Thanks for sharing. I can't even imagine what it's like to be thrown in jail.. and don't want to... ever!
But that was cool of Wal-mart. I would have never guessed!
