The Old and the New (An "I Am" Poem) explains some things about me. "The Old" (in blue) is what I used to be like in 7th grade when I wrote the poem (for my mom. -_-;; wink . "The New" (in indigo) is to explain the way I've been acting toward a certain friend of mine recently (currently in 10th grade, so there will be a difference in my writing after...oh, 3, 4 years?)
The Old
I am a smart kid with multi-colored eyes.
I wonder what it's like to fly.
I hear the rustle of wings.
I see bright white feathers.
I want to have an adventure.
I am a smart kid with multi-colored eyes.
I pretend I can soar above the clouds.
I feel the cool breeze blow against my face.
I touch the silky contour feathers of wings.
I worry I might get hurt if I fall again.
I cry when I watch a moving video.
I am a smart kid with multi-colored eyes.
I understand my limitations.
I say that everyone is equal.
I dream of seeing the world.
I try to do my best in everything.
I hope I will reach my goals in life.
I am a smart kid with multi-colored eyes.
The New
I am a wretch with a shattered mind.
I wonder why you haven't given up on me.
I hear you crying at night.
I see what I do to you.
I want you to be happy.
I am a wretch with a shattered mind.
I pretend that I'm somewhere near good enough for you.
I feel as if everything is spiralling, falling.
I touch your face and know I hurt you.
I worry I hurt everyone, especially you.
I cry when I remember the horrors I've caused.
I am a wretch with a shattered mind.
I understand nothing.
I say "I love you" and there's pain in your eyes.
I dream scattered memories, faded dreams, poorly acquired visions.
I try to love you, trust you, but fear I will harm you.
I hope one day I can earn your love, maybe deserve it.
I am a wretch with a shattered mind.
...Please tell me if I'm just like I admit I am...Please answer me...I don't deserve forgiveness, and I'm not asking for it, but at least read this to see my stupid attempt at explaining things.
