She waited for a lifetime,
seemed she'd wait a lifetime more.
For something that was out of reach,
waiting for that man,
the man she constantly saw in her dreams.
"Come to me." He'd say late into the night,
and he held her in his arms so tight.
Loving her with all his being,
bonding soul to soul so it would seem.
But he would only come in dreams,
and only at night.
When the moon became full,
and the world lacked light.
Then one night she said to him,
"Come to me, let me love you with all my being."
He looked hesistant,
just so slightly in awe.
That this young woman,
who seemed so fragil, so frail,
would make such a brazen move.
"Come to me." She called again.
Dark locks glowing in the moonlight,
eyes forever changing like the sea,
"Come to me, make love with me,
and forever together we will be."
But he was not sure,
he thought that it could never be.
So, he left her all alone in her dreams,
but the wind still whispers his name.
The darkness still echos his presence,
and though he is no longer there,
she can feel him with all her being.
He still comes to lay with her,
protecting her from all that may ever be.
One night she felt him there,
and quietly, oh so quietly,
she said, "You are my soul mate, my partner, my friend.'
Then with a dreamy sleep laden sigh she said, "I can still feel you here with me. I hear your heart call out my name."
She still waits,
for the day he will return,
for the day he will say,
come to me again.
