Bits of Addy
Random wanderings - what I'm dealing with, what's getting me frustrated, what I'm working on (and the progress reports just in case you care) and other stuff that might change from day to day that I just don't feel like putting my sig.
Halloween
Holy monkeys, it's been a bit of a while since I made up an update... I go any longer and people might think I've left Gaia! Quick update as to the status of me: still wondering, still horny, but not as angsty (woo!), and basically enjoying things all-round. In short: life is good.

Halloween is coming up, hurrah hurrah! I love holidays, any one I can find, and Halloween is very cool because of the whole dressing-up tradition that came to be formed. As a theatre person, dressing up is part of the job description, but it's always fun to put something together, and go 'round in public dressed as Strawberry Shortcake or Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, or whatever you please. For me, the first year in a while I've actually gotten up a costume, well, I decided to go with something rather simple to put together, and so you'll be able to find me bopping around the streets of Brookings as a gypsy. Maybe I'll look at things online and see if I can't find a few tips for palm-reading or something. That would be fun.

My beloved karaoke is having a costume contest that week, with a grand prize of $150. Yup. Lots of us theatre people are for sure and certain going to be there. And then later that week, my theatre group is holding a Halloween dance, for more festivities! I hope it will go over well, we're sure getting excited for it.

Ah, the weather is turning colder. The wind is picking up, for one thing, and that's enough to chill anyone's bones up here. But there is a certain autumny smell in the air, the kind of smell that carries dead leaves, pumpkins, the last batch of apples, and a hint of frost all wrapped up in it. Sometimes the cold isn't pleasant to deal with, but just everything about this season comes together in such a nice was as to create one of the most comforting and relaxing times ever. In winter, you're always worried about frostbite and ice and blizzards and things, so those comforts that come are always accompanied by those niggling worries, and spring has too much piping energy to be comforting and relaxing at the same time. You can't drink tea at any old time in spring - not properly.

The trees in Brookings are turning the most wonderful colors. Lovely reds, for instance, and bright yellows, and even some pale browns. And there's even some green hanging on, though it is fading bit by bit (but with class, and with style).

I love this time of year.
