A story
Hello everyone. From now on my journal is going to be used to write a story. So if you like to read, this will be perfect for you.

The Days we Share

CHAPTER 1
prologue

A small girl sat in an allyway. It was a cold night and the moon was full. She held her knees to her body for warmth as she stared out at the people passing by. Her 13 year old body could barely stand the bitter wind with rags for clothing. She shivered violently, shutting her eyes tight because the chill of the wind made them hurt. Suddenly, out of no where, a gentle voice spoke to her. It was masculine and warm, like hot chocolate on a snowy winter day.

"Little girl?" The small girl looked up into the eyes of a warn male face. He had ice blue eyes and crows feet. His face looked rough, with a few days growth of hair on his face and a full head of gray hair on his head. He smiled with a gentle look and offered his hand to her.

"You'll catch your death out here. Come with me and we'll get you warm." He said. His voice filled with a promise of kindness and a warm house. The tiny girl looked up at him, unsure if she should, but the call of a warm blanket and maybe something to eat swayed her otherwise and she took his hand, coming to her feet. The man's hand was warm and caring as he wrapped his large, rouch fingers around her chilled palm.

He lead her out of the alleyway and down the street. Many people they passed looked at them curiously. It wasn't everyday that you saw a dirty, barely dressed thirteen year old girl being lead by a kind old man with a brown soft leather coat. He had to be at least six foot five and had a good two feet on her. She remained silent as he lead her down the street and stopped at a sporty looking black car. He opened the door for her and gently urged her inside. Once she was in he closed the door and ran around to the other side and quickly started the engine. The car roared to life and heat blasted from the small vents placed convinently along the dashboard. He pointed all of them at her and carefully buckled her in.

He undid the emergency brake and then pulled out onto the street, making his way towards his house. The small girl looked out the window at the life she had known for more than two years. She had lived on the street ever since her parents died. None of her relatives or friends could take her. Her parents had supposedly left a will but no one knew where that was. All their money had gone to the bank and was kept till they could find the will and see who to give it do. Since she wasn't old enough to spend it yet, they couldn't give it to her until she turned eightteen. She looked back over at the man who was driving and she couldn't help the sudden swell of hope that this could be her saving grace.
