Free thinkers??
Free thinkers? A new movement? I am a Christian, yet I am not considered "free thinking?" why is this? Am I not still able to think freely because of my beliefs? What is up with this? Am I all of a sudden narrow minded and blinded by my faith? My eyes were OPENED by Jesus, not closed. It is these so called "free thinkers" that can only see from their own perspective. I have a glimpse into the perspective of the one who created all of us! The one who wove the fabric of time. The one who knit you together in your mother's womb.

Is my Lord Jesus Christ keeping me from thinking on my own? "HECK NO AT ALL!" I am a freethinker just like everyone of my Christian Brothers and Sisters.

amen. I don't know what is up with this idea that because one believes in the bible then they are not thinking for theirself. It's the total opposite of what I was taught growing up in the church. But honestly the world is blinded by darkness, they do things which they think are good, but they are not. They choose things which they think they want, but they do not know better, because without Christ everyone is blind. One does not stop thinking in God, it is only in God that ones thought's truly mean something.

"Isaiah 42:16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;
I will lead them in paths they have not known.
I will make darkness light before them,
And crooked places straight.
These things I will do for them,
And not forsake them."

I hear ya on that. I feel that way alot too. I sum it up to this: I don't live my life bound to the rules of religion, lots of "religious" people don't even know God.Christianity is a lifestyle that's all about knowing God for yourself and establishing a relationship. If I was wrong on how I do things I'd get convicted, simple as that. And God's word is knowledge and with all of the knowledge instilled in our hearts how on His green Earth can we be close minded? Maybe on the world's views, which we should be because He told us not to be of the world but we know what we need to and believe in the Truth. Ok I'll stop before I really preach. xd

Well, to be open minded, one must be willing to admit that one's current beliefs are wrong, either completely or partially, and that is something I've found that most christians cannot do. Second, It seems that most christians are only so because their parents were. Not to say that you didn't chose to be a Christian, only that for most (like me) it was forced upon.

You see, I think it is better to live life as you would and believe what you want based on your own logic, rather than imposed traditions.

The thing that irks people about christians is faith. People think that because christians, or any religious person, has faith in something, means that they cannot think for themselves and would rather accept some preconception of what is true, rather than finding what's true.

But most divinations of Christianity require total conviction in what the bible says, word for word, and that is something that is construde as close-minded. A free-thinker must be willing to say 'I was wrong.' and set beliefs prevent one from admitting that.

The Next time someone calls you close-minded, ask them what they think, and give them a sympathetic ear free from your beliefs. That'll shut them right up.

I dont think you'll read this but it needs to be said.. I believe you have only a partial view of Christianity and the faith TRUE Christians have in God. I was not forced to be a christian but rather my parents taught me, from when I was young, about the one true God. I came to Christ as a young boy but I started taking my faith into my own hands rather than leaning on my parents to keep me up. Every time I read the Bible, God shows me how much He loves me and why I can put my faith in Him. I hear what free thinkers say but what they tell me is, thanks to the Lord giving me discernment, just plain wrong and "of the world". I'm gonna go post another blog.. I think I need to.
