Tale of the Trombonist
Or something close to it...
Today the jazz band played for the governor.
He talked for a long time and he was boring >P
But playing, now that was a treat!
I was really hyper in the morning for some unknown reason, so I came to school bouncing off the walls and running around the building like the crazy person I am deeeeep deeeeep down. I got on my uniform and played some random licks for the choir peeps while we waited. This was after going through all seven songs twice, so I probably should have shut up, but I had fun so NYAH!
This one guy told me to play something random, so I stretched my arm into seventh position and played from the lowest note to the highest note in that position. Heh heh, he thought it was grand.
So we go out there and start playing, and all sorts of people are showing up and stuff. It was interesting at this time because I could see them, see their faces and actions. I couldn't before in the auditorium because it was so dark, so this was kind of new. A few little kids stood there watching me play, and at that time I felt all warm and fuzzy inside, being admired by the likkle people.
The thing is, everyone thinks the trombone is difficult. It really isn't, the trombone is actually rather simple. There are only seven positions, you do the rest with your lips, and once you get the hang of it that's even simpler. And since I've been playing for so long, I have LIPS OF STEEL!!!!!!!
(if anyone cracks one joke off that statement I'll kill you ._.)
So anywhoo, we played through all seven songs as the important people were entering (yes, they were important >3 ) and they were all watching us instead of the Debs (the choir) and... MAN it's really pouring outside o.o
*looks out the window*
I couldn't help but hear it, 's super loud ._.
*cough*
Anywhoo, so for the first time in awhile the jazz band got the recognition it deserved. So we played, and on the way back to the room this little boy stopped me and said, "Trombones rock!" and that just brightened up my day right there.
The only bad thing about today was my shoes. At first I couldn't wear socks with my dress shoes, so they rubbed against my ankles so badly they're all bloody and sore now. But other than that, I'm good!
