Ch 20- Murderous Matrimony
Well....this is the longest chapter I've ever written...by far....

Lissabelle: Mother…?
The princess—who was already in her wedding attire—stood to the side of a wall-length mirror as the queen stood behind her, making sure her tiara was even.
Lissabelle: Where is Father?
Queen Elise hesitated, let out a sigh, and then continued fixing her daughter’s crown.
Queen Elise: He’s been missing for days now… He hasn’t been seen since the night Aderas returned from Saraid. That’s why Aderas has had so much power right now. Because your father was missing and you were on the run, there was no family member to take over. So Aderas did…
Lissabelle: I see…
Queen Elise: It’s a shame. Your father would dearly love to walk you down that aisle today…
She smiled softly at the child, who had no reply. With a sigh, the queen let go of the silver tiara and stepped away from her daughter.
Queen Elise: I suppose I’ll give you some time alone, before…
She didn’t want to finish the sentence, in fear that she would upset her daughter.
Lissabelle stood in front of the mirror, looking at the reflection before her. The long, beautiful wedding gown lied softly upon her smooth, pale skin as it tumbled elegantly down over her legs. Satin white gloves ran up her arms as her hands grasped a bouquet of white roses tied with a white lace ribbon. Her wispy hair was tied into a loose bun as free curls hung gracefully to the side of her face. Her sparkling silver tiara wrapped around her bun and held her long, lace veil in place as it fell down to the ground. The necklace that Aderas had requested her to adorn lay in its box somewhere, untouched by Lissabelle’s hands. Instead, hanging from her neck was the sparkling sapphire necklace that had once been Cal’s, shimmering in its deep blue splendor. Even she believed she looked exquisite, though she wished that someone else would be standing across from her at the altar…
Lissabelle: (Why does this have to happen…? Why can’t Cal just burst through the door, hold me in his arms and take me away? Far away: never again to see this wretched place!)
She knew why he couldn’t. He was gone from this world, never to return. She knew she would be joining him soon, however. She could feel the blade of the dagger she had stolen from the kitchen last night and tied to her leg rubbing against her calf. It was a bit painful, but she knew the pain would be much worse once she reached the prince’s chamber…
Lissabelle: (Though I know this will be the last day I do see this wretched place…)
She straightened her skirts with her gloved hands and returned her gaze to the looking glass.
Lissabelle: (The Protected.)
Janette’s words from that day on the cart while driving to Saraid echoed in the princess’s mind as she mentally visualized the card with the man protecting the girl from whatever dangers threatened them. As the card vanished, she instead saw Cal rushing towards her before she had the chance to stab herself after finding out that Aderas was in the vicinity. Then she could see him chasing after Eric and his troupe, his sword flailing in the air and his hair blowing through the wind as he began to rescue her. Lastly, she heard his words as he held her tightly by the fire on that cold, dark night in the North Kingdom:
Lissabelle: (Cal: Just...just don't worry... I've got you....)
She shook her head and looked away from the mirror.
Lissabelle: (The Lovers.)
A mental image of the card with the man and the woman holding each other, gazing into each other’s eyes came into her mind. Next came Cal’s sweet smirk on the day she first met him. Then she saw him drawing nearer, lifting her chin up toward his face as he whispered into her ear as the lake sparkled and twinkled next to them, “I'll never let anything happen to you, Lissabelle. I love you.” Finally she could almost feel his lips pressing against hers again as the image came into mind.
She hung her head, sad to see these perfect images once again. They only depressed her more.
Lissabelle: (The Helpless…)
She saw the sad, miserable face of the girl alone in the dark. Soon after, she saw the image that had so haunted her these past days: Cal on his knees, Aderas’s blade plunged into his gut as blood poured from the wound and he looked over to her, whispering with what little energy he had left:
Lissabelle: (I’m sorry, Lissabelle…)
She shook her head, ridding the image from her mind as well as she could. She never wanted to see his face again, at least…not until she was with him again…

Chase: Aw, Jessina, don’t you look so pretty?
He teased at the princess as she came out from behind a nearby tree, which had been her makeshift dressing room for the day. She now adorned a light blue gown, high heels, and showed off her natural bouncy curls instead of letting them lay tied in a tight ponytail.
Jessina: Oh shut it.
Chase: Fine, fine.
He chuckled as he dusted some dirt off of his newly-stolen Western Kingdom Military uniform.
Jessina: Hm… A criminal dressed in a soldiers’ uniform…ironic…
Chase: Oh come on, you know you think it’s sexy.
Jessina rolled her eyes and walked off, drawing nearer to the palace from which she had run.
Jessina: Well… Let’s get to the dungeon. We need to get Cal. And then, we need to save Lissy before…
She stopped as she began to hear the church’s bells clanging in the distance.
Chase: Erm…. Do you think…?
Jessina gulped, but then shook her head.
Jessina: They...they always ring those bells at this time of day…
Chase: Oh…I see…
Jessina: (At least…I think they do…)

Cal: And when Aderas first spoke to us, he was furious, because…erm…
King William: He had just seen you kiss his fiancée…?
Cal: Well, yes… And so he ran over and tried to hit her, but I kept his hands off of her. But then he tried to take her away, so I pulled out my sword. He threw her to the ground and drew his. I thought I had him beat, but then Lissabelle started screaming, and I looked over to see her getting dragged away by some big guard. But before I could act, Aderas’s sword was in my abdomen…
King William: I see…
Cal: Last thing I saw before I passed out was Lissabelle crying as they put her into the carriage.
He leaned back against the wall of the dungeon, letting his head collide with the hard stone and setting a booming echo into motion.
Cal: It’s my fault she’s gone…
King William: That’s not true. Had it not been for me, she would never be in this situation. If I had only listened to her…
Cal: If you had only listened to her, I would have never met her in the first place…
There was silence between the two men for a few moments as Cal pictured that poor, breathless girl approaching him that faithful morning with a sweet smile, then falling into his arms as she collapsed, unconscious.
King William: Cal… Did you love my daughter?
Cal: Erm…Highness?!
He sat straight up, blushing redder than a ripe strawberry.
King William: I don’t mind, son. If there’s anyone in the world I’d trust my daughter’s life with, it’d be you.
Cal: But…
King William: If your stories are true, then you protected Lissabelle with your life on multiple occasions, nearly died for her, and you hardly knew her. I’d be glad to know someone is always there for her. I’m glad to know your life was in your hands.
He stuck his hand through the bars in between the cells, offering to shake Cal’s. The young boy took his hand firmly and shook it politely.
Cal: In that case, highness…
He let out a deep sigh as he pictured his love’s smiling face once again.
Cal: I did…still do… I love Lissabelle more than anything…
The king smiled on the other side of the iron bars as he pulled his hand back through the bars.
King William: Well, let’s get going then.
Cal: Huh?
King William: You’re going to help me break out.
Cal: But I don’t know what…
King William: Cal, both you and I know that you are the only one who is capable of saving my daughter. Now are you going to help me break out of this prison or not?
Cal gave no reply, but stood up and made his way to the cell gate and began examining the anatomy of everything around it. As he pondered, he couldn’t get her beautiful yet sad face out of his mind.
Cal: (Don’t worry, Lissabelle. I’m coming.)

Lissabelle took her white rose bouquet into her hands and looked behind the velvet curtains into the cathedral. It was lovelier than she had ever seen it. Sunlight poured through the stained glass windows, adding a splash of color to the snow white decorations. The room was filled with white roses, lilies, and irises, the scents of which seemed to perfume the room with love itself. The altar was decorated with white lace ribbons and candles beamed around it like stars lit the night sky. The seats were filled with everyone from everyday citizens of the central kingdom to kings and queens of other nations, all there to see the beautiful marriage of North to West.
The church was a beautiful sight, that is, until she saw the man standing at the altar. He was dressed in his black military uniform, miscellaneous medals dangling down from it as he flaunted his “prowess” as a soldier. His hair was slicked back, revealing his harsh green eyes to the spectators. She saw those eyes glance in her direction, causing her to quickly close the curtain and sneak away from his view.
Queen Elise: Lissabelle…
Lissabelle: Mm?
Queen Elise: Are you ready, darling?
The princess let out a heaving sigh, not looking to her mother, but replying in a quiet, sad tone.
Lissabelle: I never will be, mother.
With that, the string quartet began to play a slow, serene tune, giving the princess her cue to enter the chapel and amble down the petal-blanketed aisle. She heard the murmurs of the crowd around her, all smiling as their gaze followed her every move. She could hear quiet whispers of “She looks so lovely,” “Such a good couple, don’t you think?” and everything in between. However, a certain comment made her heart stop:
Little Girl: Mommy, why isn’t she smiling?
The princess stopped as she heard the innocent child’s question, causing every patron in the huge cathedral to become silent. Lissabelle finally just shook her head and continued slowly down the aisle, every step leading her closer and closer to Aderas’s grasp.

Jessina and Chase approached the guard at the front of the dungeon, doing their best to impersonate their guises correctly. Jessina took small steps and kept her movements sweet and subtle, just as her sister would. Chase puffed out his chest and kept his head high as he clutched the princess’s arm tightly and walked confidently towards the guard. Jessina could tell he was enjoying the little game.
Guard: Why Lissabelle!
The guard smiled as pleasantly as possible.
Guard: Aren’t you supposed to be at your wedding?
The two froze at the guard’s words. They each took a glance at the other, but then quickly returned to their task at hand.
Jessina: Oh… Why, what time was it supposed to begin?
She spoke with a soft, airy tone that was identical to her sister’s voice. She had practiced many times, though at the moment, it was hard not to bust out yelling, “THE WEDDING’S ALREADY STARTED!?!?”
Guard: Noon, I think… You best return to the palace and get ready. You don’t want to keep that husband of yours waiting.
Jessina: No… No I came down here for a g-good reason.
Guard: Oh? And what would that be?
Jessina: I c-came to say goodbye to Cal…
She hung her head miserably, just as she had seen her twin do in any situation that saddened her.
Guard: Really? You know he’s alive!? We all thought you thought he was dead!
Jessina: Erm… No, Aderas told me everything. He said that Cal would stay alive as long as I’d marry him…
Guard: Oh, yes, I see. Well I’m afraid I can’t let you in the dungeon without an escort.
Chase: Um, that’d be me.
The guard looked closer at Chase, who was taken aback by the creepy man’s curiosity.
Guard: Have I seen you around here before?
Chase: Erm… Probably. I mean, we both work around the palace…
Guard: Hm… I suppose so…
Jessina: Um, no mean to be a bother, but I am in a bit of a rush… Could you let me inside, please?
The guard rolled his eyes at the girl.
Guard: Alright. But make it quick. You don’t want to keep everyone waiting.
He hesitantly opened the gate to the dungeon and let Chase and Jessina pass through the stone archway.
Chase: “No mean to be a bother, but I am in a bit of a rush…”
He giggled as he mocked his royal friend’s imitation of her sister.
Jessina: Ugh… If I ever have to talk, dress, or act like this again, I want you to stab me. Now quit talking and hurry up! The wedding’s already started!
As they finally reached the depths of the dungeon, they broke into a run, searching for the young man who would save Lissabelle from her fate.

King William: They…won’t…budge…
He pulled on the iron bars with all his might, trying to create a gap between them large enough to the point where he could squeeze through.
King William: Ugh… These bars were weak when they were first built! Now they’re hundreds of years old, worn and rusted, and I’m still not strong enough to bend them…
Cal: Hm… Maybe we shouldn’t try bending the bars…
He looked at the cell’s gate, and an idea sprung to mind as he saw the iron padlock, just as rusty and worn as the rest of the dungeon.
Cal: Do you have anything metal in your cell with you? A pole, a chain…
King William: I have my bedroom key, but it’s much too large to fit in that keyhole…
Cal: Give it here.
The king passed the almost-new iron key through the bars that separated the two cells and handed it to Cal, who approached the padlock. He slid his hands through the gate and took the rusty box into his hand, then slid the key through the gap between the bars on the lock. He simply twisted the key abruptly, and the rusty padlock snapped in half and fell to the ground.
King William: How did you…?
Cal: Your key was in much better condition than the lock and it was bigger. Physics told me that it would work.
He pushed gently on the gate, but as soon as it began to creak open, he heard fast footsteps approaching from the dark halls.
King William: Close it! Maybe they won’t notice…
Cal swung it shut, praying that the guards approaching didn’t hear it clang as it slammed against the bars. But as the guards drew nearer, he saw a strange sight—one of them was wearing a dress.
King William: Lissabelle!
He was overjoyed as he saw his daughter approaching his cell.
Jessina: Father!
She was too astonished to see her father locked up in a prison cell to really care that he had once again confused her with Lissabelle.
King William: How did you get away from Aderas? Did he let you go? What’s going on?
Cal: Um…Highness, that’s Jessina.
King William: But she’s wearing a dress…
Jessina: Hmph. Actually, he’s right.
She pulled a few hairpins from her pocket and tied her hair back into its normal ponytail.
King William: What the… How can you tell?
Cal: Lissabelle’s got more freckles on her nose and she has a scar on her arm. Jessina on the other hand is slightly tanner and has a small scar on her nose from when she tried to pierce it.
Jessina: WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT THAT!?!
Cal: Your sister.
King William: And who is this? You’ve been running around all this time with a guard?
Chase: Erm—It’s a disguise. I’m a merchant… Though I want to be a knight!
King William: Disguise...I suppose that would also explain why Jessina is wearing a dress.
Chase: Ugh! Enough chit chat! Cal, the wedding’s started!
Cal felt as though his heart had been ripped out as the words fell from Chase’s lips.

The guard at the gate looked around, bored as ever.
Guard: (Ugh… When’s that stupid princess gonna get back, anyway? She’s taking forever…)
His gaze wandered as his boredom became more substantial. First he looked at the sky and was amused by a cloud that somewhat resembled a giraffe wearing a hat. He looked over to the palace, seeing crowds of people surrounding the cathedral adjacent to it. Then he looked over to the bulletin board littered with “wanted” and “missing” posters—the face of a particular dark-haired, green-eyed man particularly catching his glance.
Guard: WAIT A MINUTE!
He sprang to his feet and entered the dungeon, sprinting through the labyrinth in search of the imposter and his accomplice.

Cal: But it can’t have…How did…?
Jessina: No time for babbling! Now let me get you out of this cell…
Cal: No need for that!
He pushed the cell door open and stepped into the hallway.
Cal: You help the king! I’ve got to go save Lissabelle!
Jessina: How did you…?
Cal: NO TIME! Can you let the king go now?
Jessina: How am I supposed to…?
Cal: Pick the lock with a hairpin!
Jessina: Oh, right…
She pulled a pin from her hair and stuck it into the lock, doing her best to maneuver it so that the lock would click open.
After a few moments, Cal began to hear more footsteps in the distance.
Chase: The guard!
Jessina: Chase, we’ll get my father and take care of this guy. You go save Lissabelle!
Cal: But…
King William: We’ll be fine! Just go save my daughter!
Cal took a quick look over to Jessina then another to Chase. They both just looked back at him, both wanting to shove him out the door themselves. He finally dashed off towards the guard, who darted in the other direction as he saw him coming.
Guard: HEY! WHAT ARE YOU….?!?!
But Cal was already down the hall by then. The guard began to chase after for a few seconds, but a voice made him turn around.
Jessina: Hey bonehead!
Jessina had moved away from the lock to let Chase take a try while she pulled her pair of daggers from their holsters.
Guard: Princess Lissabelle!?! What are you doing?
Seeing the usually sweet, quiet princess pull out a pair of knives would make anyone ask the same question.
Jessina: Oh I’m not Lissabelle…
She dashed out in front of him and conked the handle of the knife on the man’s head, causing him—to his shock—to fall to the ground out cold.
Jessina: I’m Jessina.

Priest: I am glad on this lovely winter day to have the honor of wedding these two wonderful people; one, the strong, valiant prince and soldier of the Western kingdom; the other, the kind, noble, and beautiful princess of the Northern kingdom. Today, we are here to bond these two wonderful souls in holy matrimony. If anyone has a reason why these two should not be wed, please speak now or forever hold their peace.
Lissabelle’s hands started sweating as she grasped her bouquet even tighter.
Lissabelle: (Someone say something…please…say something…)
Priest: Excellent. We shall begin.
Lissabelle’s heart sank as the priest opened his Bible and began to read aloud as Aderas’s face lit up with a sly smile. She could almost hear him now, taunting her with that expression of his. “Guess what, pretty? You’re mine now, and there’s no getting out of it. Little Cal’s not here to save you. Jessi’s not here to save you. Even Mommy and Daddy can’t help you now.” She wanted to punch him so hard, but she couldn’t. Seeing all these faces looking at her, so proud of her for doing this for her country—it made her feel so guilty about what she planned to do later that night. But she knew in her heart that it was the only way to save herself.
Priest: …And now for the rings.
Aderas: Erm…Skip the rings.
Priest: What do you mean skip the rings? You can’t have a marriage—
Aderas: Just do it.
Priest: Uh…Yes, your highness…
He flipped a few pages through his Bible and continued speaking. Lissabelle was a bit confused by Aderas’s behavior. His eyes kept darting towards the windows of the church, as if he were watching something outside. However, Lissabelle couldn’t turn to see what had been catching his eyes without looking suspicious.
Priest: Um…let’s see…where did I leave off…?
Aderas: Just get to the “I do’s.”
Priest: Erm…Alright…
He flipped a few more pages, then turned his gaze over to Aderas.
Priest: Do you, Prince Aderas, take Princess Lissabelle to—?
Aderas: I do.
Priest: Okay…Um… Do you, Princess Lissabelle, take Prince Aderas to be your lawful-wedded husband? To have and to—
Aderas: Keep it short.
His eyes darted behind Lissabelle again to the window. Lissabelle saw guards running over to the opposite side of the church to the point where her betrothed was looking. It was hard to keep her mind focused on her objective.
Priest: Ugh! As long as you both shall live?!
Lissabelle: I…I… (I can’t do this… I can’t say yes… What am I doing? There’s no way I want to become his… Even if I die tonight, I’ll still be dying as his wife.)
She could hear the crowd murmuring in the church, each and every one of them clueless to why the princess was stuttering over two simple words. Then she saw Aderas’s face turning as he continued watching whatever it had been watching before, following it as if it were moving toward the cathedral doors.
Aderas: Man and wife.
Priest: Hm?
Aderas: SAY IT!
Priest: Oh…um… I now pronounce you man and wife?
Aderas: Ehem.
Priest: Oh. Yes. You may now kiss the bride.
Her heart felt like it had just been torn out at the sound of the words. She could feel his grimy hands wrap around her waist just as they had done that night before she ran away. She could see his green eyes take one last glance to her chest just before they closed and his face drew closer to hers. She could feel his clammy breath on the tips of her lips as he came closer…and closer… And slam! She turned her head to the direction of the noise just in time to let Aderas’s lips collide with the princess’s cheek, to his dismay.
And there, in the doorway of the cathedral, covered in sweat, sword drawn and still repelling guards, stood Cal. Lissabelle couldn’t move. She couldn’t speak. It was as if she had just seen a ghost.
Cal: Lissabelle! Don’t do it! I love you!
He cried out as loud as he possibly could, causing every person in the audience to grow completely silent. Lissabelle felt tears rolling down the sides of her cheek. Suddenly, before she could even think about it, she stepped off of the altar, feeling Aderas’s cold hands slide off of her.
Aderas: LISSABELLE! GET BACK UP HERE THIS INSTANT!
He grabbed her wrist firmly and tried to pull her closer, but she tugged it back and slapped the man square on the cheek. The audience let out an uproar.
It was as if Lissabelle flew down the long aisle. She started walking quickly, then jogging, then taking off at a sprint as if he would be gone in a few seconds if she didn’t reach him in time.
Aderas: GUARDS! SEIZE HIM!
Some of the guards that had been chasing Cal outside and a few others that had been inside joined their target inside the cathedral and took hold of both his arms.
Lissabelle: NO!!!!
She continued to run as fast as her little legs could carry her, then once she reached the throng of guards—in the center of which stood Cal, who was being handcuffed—she pushed through them, not caring to be sweet and polite. She kept shoving people out of the way until she saw his shaggy hair and his handsome face as his hands were being bound in front of him.
Lissabelle: Cal!
The princess’s arms wrapped tightly around his slender body, her face pressing into his chest, staining his red shirt with tears as his bound arms were raised over her head, then slid down to her hips as he pulled her even closer.
Lissabelle: Cal…Cal I thought you were dead!
Cal: I know…I know…
Lissabelle: Don’t ever leave me like that again! Never!
Cal: I never will again…
He lowered his head to kiss the top of hers as she continued to weep.
The two of them had been completely ignoring the shouts and cries of “What’s going on!?” coming from the spectators, and also the terribly upset groom was beginning to come closer and closer to the couple.
Aderas: Please pry my bride out of this dirty commoner’s hands.
Lissabelle: No!
She held on to him tighter and felt his strong arms pull her closer as well. However, the guards managed to pry them apart and shoved Lissabelle to the side as they began to drag Cal back in the direction of the doors.
Aderas: Do I need to repeat what I said before!?
He looked into the eyes of the guard to whom he spoke after Cal had fallen at Sapphire lake.
Guard: No, sir!
Aderas: What did I say?
Guard: Um… “I want him to live a long time in that dungeon. Living in misery knowing that his beloved princess is married to someone else.”
Aderas: Exactly! Now make it happen!
Lissabelle: IT WON’T HAPPEN!
She yelled so loud that everyone in the room—including the guards hauling Cal away—stopped moving and making any noise.
Lissabelle: IT WON’T BECAUSE I’LL NEVER MARRY YOU! NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!
She pulled her tiara out of her hair and threw it at the man with all her strength. He repelled it with his arm, but snarled back at her with anger.
Aderas: Hmph.... Well too late, sweetheart. We're already married.
Priest: Actually... She never said I do, so you're actually not...
Aderas looked to the girl and snarled viciously.
Aderas: Why I ought to...!
He walked closer to the girl and raised his arm to strike her, but stopped as the cathedral doors opened one last time.
King William: IF YOU LAY ONE FINGER ON MY DAUGTHER, I WILL NEVER LET YOU SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AGAIN!
Lissabelle: FATHER!
She dashed over to the tall, thin, bearded man and gave him a warm embrace: one that he had never felt since they had moved away from the girl’s favorite place.
King William: Lissabelle, I’m so sorry… I’ve learned the error of my ways… Now, could you please forgive an old man that’s made quite a few mistakes?
Lissabelle: Of course…
King William: That’s my Lissy…
For the first time in years, Lissabelle saw her father smile happily to her.
King William: Now… Guards! Unhand that boy!
Reluctantly, the guards relinquished their prisoner, who dashed over to Lissabelle and held her tight as if he’d never let go.
Cal: Lissabelle, I never want to leave you again…
Lissabelle: Cal, I love you so much…
Aderas: NO!
The spoiled prince rushed over to the scene and yelled as loud as he possibly could.
Aderas: NO NO NO! THIS IS NOT HOW IT’S SUPPOSED TO END! SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE MINE!
King William: Arrest him.
Aderas: WHAT?!
As twenty or so Northern Kingdom soldiers approached him, Aderas found his outlet towards the door and dodged the lot of them.
Guard: HEY! GET BACK HERE!
Cal: Let me handle this…
He let go of Lissabelle and left the cathedral, a throng of soldiers, royals, and even spectators following behind to see the brawl.
Lissabelle: CAL!
She called after him, not wanting to lose him like she did the last time.
Aderas sprinted toward the palace, not wanting to turn back, knowing it would slow him down.
Aderas: (This isn’t how things are supposed to be… By now I could’ve been alone with her…kissing her…touching her… I’m going to kill that stupid kid!)
Jessina: Where do you think you’re going?
She pulled out her knives and did her best to attack him, though never made any contact. Instead she just changed his pathway to escape.
Chase: Nope. This road’s closed.
Just one stroke of Chase’s longsword chased Aderas into a dark alley, just as he had wanted.
As he began to hear a third pair of footsteps behind him, he quickly drew his sword and spun, wanting to catch his follower by surprise. To his surprise however, the boy was ready and jumped back, the blade just missing him.
Aderas: Listen, Cal. You’ve ruined my life!
He flailed his sword wildly, praying to get a hit in, but all possible contacts were either dodged or blocked.
Aderas: And if you’re going to do that, I’m going to bring you down with me!
Cal simply caught him with his guard down. When Aderas stepped backward as to block a shot, Cal quickly seized his chance and tripped him, sending him backwards to the ground, his sword flying upwards into Cal’s empty hand. With that, Cal crossed one blade over the other and let them hover over Aderas’s unprotected neck.
Cal: What was that about you bringing me down with you?
Aderas: You…You can’t kill me…
Cal: But I can.
Lissabelle: Cal…
She approached calmly and sly, just as Aderas had always walked over to her.
Lissabelle: Death is too good for him. How about we put him in the dungeon so that he may live in misery knowing that his beloved princess is married to someone else.
A sly smirk crept across Cal’s face as a look of pure horror came across Aderas’s.
Aderas: Damn you, Lissabelle!
Cal: Wadda you say, Princie? Life in prison?
As the guards approached and picked Aderas up off of the ground, he continued to snarl at Cal and Lissabelle who watched as his hands were bound and he was carried off to the prison.
King William: Lissabelle…
The king brought his daughter into another warm hug.
King William: I’m so glad you’re safe… And you know, it’s all thanks to you.
He looked over to Cal and let go of Lissabelle to take his hand and shake it warmly.
King William: Now, Lissabelle…. You said that Aderas was going to be miserable knowing that you’re married to someone else…?

Three Months Later

Lissabelle stared from the balcony of the chateau on Sapphire lake, gazing to the beautiful sapphire waters below. Her white gown laid softly against her skin as her soft burgundy curls glowed under the full moon. The lilies in her hair seemed to glow with the light from the fireflies and her eyes were mirrors to the stars. Cal’s arm was wrapped around her waist as he leaned his head on hers and looked down to the beautiful scene below.
Cal: So how does it feel to be Mrs. Lissabelle Nicolette Fray-Mitchell?
Lissabelle: Wonderful.
She turned to the side and gave him a soft, sensual kiss on the lips.
Lissabelle: How does it feel to be married to a princess?
Cal: Wicked awesome!
Lissabelle giggled at his reaction.
Lissabelle: I can’t believe it… After all these troubles, after Aderas nearly killed you, nearly married me—and would’ve caused me to kill myself in the process…you still kept your promise to take me back…
Cal: A promise is a promise.
He started kissing her neck softly, making her smile sweetly.
Jessina: HEY LISSY! WHERE’D YOU PUT THE PEANUT BUTTER!?
The two of them rolled their eyes at the sound of the second twin’s voice.
Cal: Why are those two on our honeymoon again?
Lissabelle: They’re staying one night before they head off on their trip.
Cal: I see…
Jessina: Hey guys!
She pranced into the room, Chase following close behind her.
Jessina: Really, Liss. Where’s the peanut butter?
Cal: WHY ARE YOU GUYS HERE!
Jessina: It’s a pit stop on my road trip to the Eastern Mountains!
Chase: Our road trip.
Jessina: You’re just a tagalong.
Chase: Nuh-uh!
Jessina: Just because my father gave you your first assignment as a knight to be my bodyguard doesn’t mean I need a bodyguard.
Chase: Well your father thinks otherwise, Cupcake!
Jessina: OH YOU DID NOT JUST…!!!
But somehow by this point, they had migrated out of the room.
Cal: Well some people haven’t changed…
Lissabelle: Yeah… Well, the only difference is that as soon as they round the corner, they'll start making out.
Cal laughed at her little joke, knowing it was true.
Lissabelle sighed dreamily as Cal wrapped her arms around her waist again as they looked out to the beautiful lake and the full moon that lit it.
Lissabelle: Cal...
Cal: Yes, Lissabelle?
Lissabelle: To make things easier on our part, I think we should let out kids pick who they marry.

4.what does she need to improve? ya need more originality everything in this has been done before even if not quite like that. its not something we could only find here, atleast thats my take on it.
if your like Gail Carson Levine then not being original is just fine!

Fly over me...

-What was your favorite chapter of this story? :My favorite chapter is the one that she thinks Cal was killed but he really wasn't because I figured that they'd meet in a happy 'reunion' type thing and I luf those ^_^.

-Who was your favorite character? :My favorite Character is Cal simply because he is the 'unlikely' hero so to speak, a merchant who's life suddenly changes and he finds himself in love with a princess who loves him back.
I also like Jessina, a butt kicking princess when is that ever not fun?

-What was your favorite aspect of this story? : Not sure really... as I said I really like unlikely hero's.

-What does she need to improve on as far as writing goes? : Um..... Maybe you could write it as an actual story instead of putting the names next to who's speaking.

-Will you read the next story? : Probably... I like Pirates ^^

Can't wait untill you next story comes out!
