Liquor on my lips
Drinks downed with you
One is not enough
So more go down
You stagger to the door
You say it’s time to leave
I hand you the keys
Never looking back
You get in the van
Turn the key
Pull out of the drive
And hit the streets
I wasn’t there that night
I never saw the scene
I heard it on the news
I didn’t want to believe
19 is so young to die
Younger even worse
You took a mother and her little girl
What am I to think
Wearing white at your funeral
The color of beginnings
I ask for a peaceful crossing
I hope you travel well
Life has never been the same
You were my rock
You held strong when the river surged
The river of my life
I’ll never forget
I won’t shed another tear
I understand your gone
So “Forever true my dearest” is all I say
I once thought it was my fault
But that is not true
I believe you would never blame me
You where always true
I have to say goodbye now
I just had to let you know
Let the world know
Goodbye fair Austin I loved you

- Title: Head on Collision
- Artist: Pocket Nerd
- Description: I was sixteen the year my best friend drove home drunk. We had been drinking at my house. We where both young and stupid. He died on his way home that night. I wrote this as a step in my coping with the loss. To this day I still miss Austin, but I can promise he taught me so much. It is never ok to take a chance with you live or others I this case I lost my best friend and the world lost a woman and her young child.
