• Soldiers embark on a journey and tell lonely tales
They didn't envision what war would entail

They expected easy foes with antiquated artillery
They become wounded and needed more auxiliary
What they see is not what they portrayed when enlisted
They fought fiends that heavily resisted

They wept as they clenched to their locket
They became disillusioned and no longer ate
They questioned their existence and faith
They clean their hands of blood and bathe

They laugh thinking war is finally over
They've grown wiser and treasure life unlike the miser
They see a face that's familiar
They recall old times and ask to play billiards

They mark their target and aim straight for the hole
They're reminded of trenches and enemies they loathe
They're reminded of war time and time again
They try to remember the good in what they regained

In establishing peace some have to die
Men are not left intact and for some its good bye
They however, rid life of one menace
Progression is slow but life dances to that cadence
