• So the horizon descended;
    dappling the trees
    darkening the branches;
    hiding the leaves

    It slunk to the ground;
    stealthy as can be
    I glance down at the forest;
    a frosted sea

    I smile contently;
    my eyes shine with glee
    I walk to the windows;
    to see Spring’s reprieve

    I gaze out ahead;
    fingers pressed against glass
    I am holding my breath;
    making the moment last

    The world’s painted dove feather;
    molded itself a new cast
    shadows are softer;
    all fears are past

    Outside I don’t need protection
    it’s there I now dash
    I dance in the dust;
    the last sparkling ash

    The crystals float from the sky;
    flurries twirl and they spin
    the frost cools me with love;
    it melts on my skin

    The last little snow;
    ‘til winter comes again.
