• Love is such a mystery
    We're all intrigued and obsessed
But it just leads to pain
which in your heart will infest

But I don't fear the pain anymore
or the sorrow or misery either
for they're better than feeling nothing at all
or being empty and dull, but an insider.
For you can't run far from yourself
from your past and its deeds
for they run just as fast as you
and will cut you at your knees.

The joy of love only lasts an instant
    then it becomes a burden
trying to live up to their expectations
    trying not to hurt them.

Rejection and sorrow are so much better
    for they can't be dissapointed.
You're not held by love's fetter,
    by duty and servitude annointed.
So for those who are happy
    This is what I say:

Know always that it might not last
That it might just slip away.
