You would whistle,
and I would talk.
Also on rare occasions,
we'd listen to rock.
I'd move around your cage
and you would follow me,
then we'd play other games
that filled me with glee.
Everything was fine,
with Mom, you, and me.
We were all happy,
happy as can be.
Enough of the past,
now i shall write.
Write of more recent events,
the ones on that fateful night...
It was a calm night,
a night like any other.
Until I awoke
and heard cries from my mother.
I sat up in bed
and asked why she was blue,
after she told me
I cried too.
I lied down in bed,
just crying and weeping.
For those two hours
my Dad and brother were sleeping.
He died that night,
without leaving a clue.
All I can say now
is Sam I miss you...
