You were a stray when I found you
Barking at the moon
With your howl so piercing
Aimed at the night sky so blue
I took you home
I gave you love and more
Yet, once more you roam
Because you are a stray dog at your core.
You're a fiery soul
A stray dog through and through
I feel your scorching passion
Aimed at the night sky so blue.
You howl, bark, yell, and scream
Never having the courage to jump, or to bite
The moon lingers on, white as cream.
But, you continue to fight.
You fight destiny, your fate
You fight all those who said "no"
For you, it is never too late.
What the hell do you know?!'
Don't tell him to stop.
Don't tell him to run.
He'll fight till he drops
and until he's done.
He'll fight until Death comes knocking
with his bony, cold hands
He'll keep on rocking
back and forth, the way his own anthem demands.
Keep it up, never give in.
They'll keep telling you to behave.
You can't let them win.
Keep dancing to your own rave.
I love you just the way you are.
And I always will.
Know that I'll never be far
From you.
