Her dark violet and silver eyes
Telling stories and showing no lies
Lightly edged by soft snow white lace
Outlined simply by black
Surrounding her pale, thin face
With a dark cherry red smile
Brightening her face all the while
Her partner twirling her over the sky
And softly ’round the moon
Dancing over the stars, so high
Tap, tap, tap over the clouds their shoes go
Whistling softly the wind did blow
Through the curls of raven black hair
Came the wind, the breeze
As the two gracefully danced on the air
Moonlight shining down from above
Lit up her dress—white like a dove
For hours and hours they happily twirled
Never tiring or stopping
Until the light of the sun around them swirled
The castle on a cloud they then returned to
Watching the day begin anew
Reaching up were the sun’s soft, spiraling rays
Filling the pearly palace
Where it shone bright through each of the days
Again they danced—now with the sun
Racing—each one the other trying to outrun
Her dress became the cotton candy sky at dawn
Pastel roses and lavenders
She was a sunset—no longer a swan
A paradise for them was this
Filled with happiness and bliss
Dancing lightly all day long
Whirling and spinning
While in their hearts played a soft song
A shooting star he pulled down for the girl
Shining and sparkling with colors like a pearl
A surprised but happy smile she gave him
And for she knew not what to say
She hugged him, on a whim
Suddenly the colors all faded
And her eyes he sadly evaded
A single tear rolled down her cheek
As the world blurred
And seemed suddenly bleak
Waking up, she looked around
There were no clouds for the ground
Sadly she closed her eyes anew
Wishing it back, wishing it back
When nothing happened, she bid the memory adieu
A bright spark of light caught her glance
She stared at it, confused, as if in a trance
Floating lightly, suspended in the calm
With, abruptly, no wind
Hung the star, as she held out her palm
Gliding silently, it flew to her hand
Reminding her of the far off land
No more would she worry about forgetting that realm
For it would always be a memory
But still her sadness threatened to overwhelm
The shooting star swiftly shone out
Reminding her all about
The bliss she had so happily known
The smiles, not tears
As she sat there, not quite alone

- Description: This began as two lines for a song and became a poem for my English class last year. I personally think that it's one of my best so far.
