• The night grows long with stars stretched high
    And moonlight silver glow.
I bathe in both as limping in,
    I find the piano.

My feet raise dust in clouds of white
    That curls like silken skin.
    A melody so beautiful
    Awakens from within.

I’ve been sleeping in the sky too long…

I sit myself before the C,
    Raise fingers to each side.
My sorrows spill into the world
    As echoes far and wide.

All my time has slipped away…

So dreamily, this song of mine
Flows through what’s split from whole.
    The fingers dancing o’er keys
Do heal my heart and soul.

And my final wish is now too gone…

If I should leave this place at last,
I beg you, God, just send
Your angels once I’ve played my song
    Into its quiet end.

    For reality to stay…
