• Chapter 64
    Nightmarish Dream

I was glaring up at a blood red eyed Edan, a wooden stake in my hands that was pressed to his still heart. Steamy tears smashed my face and my hands shook unsteadily holding the weapon. No matter how hard I tried I was frozen, not able to pull my arms back. I was ice. I choked with terror trembling, “Edan I-I don’t, I’m not.” I fumbled with the words in my mouth, “I’m sorry I don’t know what’s going on!” I cried harder, with my heart heavy in my chest that it pulled me downwards. I glanced down with a downfallen spirit and weak hands. “You know I love you and wouldn’t do this I just can’t-”
“Hai,” I looked up again hoping for a reassuring answer. “I don’t love you,” Edan growled with glistening ivorine fangs. He narrowed his blood eyes and spoke it again with a angered tone, “I don’t love you.”
“What,” I gasped choking on my breath. Before I could say more a hand dug its nails into my shoulder and another one around my neck making me drop the wood stake from my hands and enabling my movement. I let out a scream as the cold hands dagger nails burrowed into my mortal flesh. I looked up with terror eyes to see Edan gone leaving nothing but a dark room. “Help! Somebody help!” I shouted over and over letting my cries bounce off jet-black walls until something caught the corner of my eye. Wheaten hair and fog glassed eyes; Cana. “Cana help me please,” I yelled as the blades dug deeper into my throat making me let out another shriek.
“Hai,” she whispered carefully and ran over to me as we both reached out. I grabbed onto Cana’s saving hand, but as soon as her skin hit mine; she was thin as vapor. I could faintly see a pallid hand grabbing her arm trying to make her come, and then she disappeared from me. Alone again.
“Cana,” I breathed pulling my hand down and tugging forward hoping to escape the iron grasp of my unknown captor.
The fingers dug deeper into my neck cutting me off of air as a self-amused voice chanted, “Hush little Nephlim don’t say a word, we wouldn’t want your dreams to go unheard. And if nobody hears your dreams, I guess they’ll have to hear your screams.” As the voice spoke I let out a pain filled scream. “And if your screams do not cry, it looks like you’ll have to die.” My vision was blurred with salty tears, as I glanced up finding Edan and Cana before me. Edan with the drastic yellow eyes and Cana whose eyes were the most beautiful and stunning shade of lavender. “Kill her.”
“Yes Princess,” they said simultaneously and narrowed their mechanical eyes at me. Cana’s lavender shaded eyes were confused as if her answer were controlled. Sooner than when I could see Edan’s, it was black.

A scream burned my throat as I woke in the nightmarish bleak night. I placed my hand on my neck, checking to see if there were any puncture wounds. My hazy eyes were stained with crying as I heard the hinges on the door creak.
“Hai are you ok,” David questioned leaning in the door frame.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and childishly grumbled crossing my arms, “I’m fine.” I gave an angered glare just wanted to be left alone with the question ‘Was that true?’
“Good then I won’t be needing this,” David sighed holding up a metal baseball bat and tossing it carelessly on the ground. “Now do you want to tell what this is all about?” He said sitting on the bed.
“I really don’t want to talk to the guy in snowman pajama pants,” I growled gesturing to the ice blue flannel pair of snowman printed pants. “In fact I really don’t want to talk to anyone ok? Now can you just go? I just kind of want to go back to school.” I let out a sigh realizing that I probably wanted to see if my nightmare was true.
“Maybe you should, after all we sent you there so that you could get away from all of this. I think you should go back to school until the funeral. I’ll pick you up in the morning and just drop you off afterwards.”
I pulled on my hair, grabbing the chopped pieces of black hair. “What about Dad won’t he be really pissed?”
“Do you see him sitting in this room? Dammit he sleeps like the dead! Trust me Hai I think we can get through this our father is an idiot. I’ll drive you down there at five ok so get some sleep.”
“Alright,” I yawned and lay back down. But instead of falling asleep I was haunted by nightmarish memories of the dream. I had to put the pieces together somehow.
But the good thing was, I didn’t dream of fire and gun shots.
