As you said, the fingers holding the blade of the sword look a little awkward. They should probably curl a little more. You should also flatten the bottom of the right foot (our right, his left) to make it look like he's applying a little pressure to it, even though he is leaning on the other foot.
I would like to see this after you color it. I hope you put a background in there too. ^^ Please take a look at my stuff too.
